KeyBindControl is a companion tool that lets you send actions from iOS to Mac/Windows. Create buttons on your iPhone or iPad (shortcuts or text input), then trigger those actions on your Mac.
Overview
What is KeyBindControl?
KeyBindControl lets you trigger Mac/Windows actions from your iPhone or iPad.
Key Features
Run shortcuts and key actions
Trigger keyboard shortcuts and Mac/Windows actions with a single tap from iOS.
Custom macro pad (Pad)
Arrange buttons to build your own control panel for each workflow.
Works with the Mac/Windows Helper
Actions are executed only through the Helper app, with the required permissions you allow.
Local network only
Communication stays on your local network. No unnecessary data is sent to external servers.
Use Cases
Run frequent shortcuts without reaching for the keyboard.
Control presentations and creative tools with one-tap actions.
Organize shortcuts visually to reduce mistakes.
Insert predefined text such as email addresses or templates.
How to Get KeyBindControl (Start Here)
To use KeyBindControl, you need both the Mac/Windows Helper app and the iOS app. The system will not work if only one side is installed, so please install both.
KeyBindControl is designed to send actions from iOS to the Mac/Windows Helper.
Before you begin, download the two apps below.
macOS / Windows: Download KeyBindControl Helper
On your Mac/Windows computer, you will use KeyBindControl Helper to receive actions sent from the iOS app and execute them.
1. Open the download page.
2. Download KeyBindControl Helper (macOS / Windows) from the download page.
3. On macOS: open the .dmg and copy the app to the Applications folder.
4. On Windows: run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
5. After installation, launch KeyBindControl Helper.
※ On macOS, you may need to grant permissions such as Accessibility. On Windows, you may need to allow the Helper through the firewall and enable key injection in the Helper. See the How to Use page for details.
iOS: Download the KeyBindControl App
On iOS, you create actions (macros) and send them to your Mac.
* The iOS app does not work on its own. It must be paired with the Mac/Windows Helper.
Network Requirements
KeyBindControl works only between devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network (same router).
Works: Your iPhone/iPad and Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi at home or work.
Does not work: Remote control over the internet (outside your local network).
* Communication happens only when you tap a button. The app does not constantly connect or monitor your Mac in the background.
Setup Order (Important)
There is a recommended order for setup. Following it helps avoid connection issues.
1. Mac/Windows: Launch the Helper app and grant the required permissions.
2. iOS: Open the app and complete initial settings.
3. Pairing: Link the two devices.
4. Use: Create actions on iOS and send them to Mac/Windows.
* The most important point is: set up your Mac first, then your iPhone/iPad. The iOS app cannot complete setup if the Helper is not ready.
Troubleshooting
If something does not work, try the following first.
1. Restart the Helper: quit the Helper on Mac/Windows and launch it again.
2. Check the network: make sure iOS and Mac/Windows are on the same Wi-Fi network (same router).
3. Check permissions: on macOS, confirm permissions such as Accessibility are granted.
4. Enable key injection: make sure “Enable Key Injection” (or equivalent) is turned on in the Helper.
5. Windows only: the firewall may be blocking the Helper. Confirm inbound access is allowed.
6. Sleep/lock: if Mac/Windows is sleeping or locked, actions may not be received.
How It Works and Important Notes
KeyBindControl is designed with safety and privacy in mind and works under the conditions below.
This is not an internet remote-control tool. You cannot control your Mac from outside your local network. This reduces the risk of unauthorized access from the outside.
Local connection: iOS and Mac/Windows must be on the same network (same Wi-Fi).
User-initiated: actions are executed only when you explicitly tap a button.
Permissions: required permissions must be granted by you on macOS.
Safety
User-initiated: actions are sent only when you tap a button in the iOS app.
No automatic execution: the app does not run actions on its own in the background.
Limited scope: only actions you configured (shortcuts/text) can be executed.
Permissions
macOS “Accessibility” permission is required to perform keyboard actions.
Under your control: you can grant or revoke permissions anytime in macOS Settings.
No logging: the app does not record, store, or send your input history to external servers.
Safe by default: if you do not grant permissions, the app simply will not work—it will not harm your system.
Network Notes
This app is for local communication only (no internet relay).
No external servers: actions are not routed through third-party servers or stored in the cloud.
Recommended: use it on trusted networks (home/work) rather than public Wi-Fi.
Using a Shared Mac
If multiple people share the same Mac, please note the following.
Active user: actions apply to the currently logged-in user on the Mac.
Prevent mistakes: when you step away, quit the Helper or reset pairing if needed.
